Week of 5-9 OCT, 2009

FALL IS IN THE AIR!! So is the cold!!

Library Skills Classes...

6-OCT: PK3-Sifert - Listen to Owl Babies by Martin Waddell, PK4-Pals - Listen to Bats in the Library by Brian Lies, and 6th Grade-Bibliographies.

8-OCT: K-Markwardt- read Skeleton Hiccups by Margery Cuyler and discuss Easy (Everybody) Book call numbers, 4th Grade- Fiction Books Organization Activity C-1, and 1st Grade-Fiction/Nonfiction Books Activity A-1.

NOTE: Call numbers - A call number is that combination of letters/numerals typed on the white label on the spine of a book, i.e. E WAD, FIC HAD, or 818 PRE. It is like a house number or address of the book on the shelf, and in the library we refer to this as the call number. Long ago, library patrons were unable to go into the book stacks, so the call numbers were used to "call out" to the librarian who would find it for them.

Next week I will be at B-K on Oct 12, 14 & 16.

Please remind your elementary student that the Jacobson LMC is open at 7:45 am each school day morning to use for research or to find a reading book. Books can be returned then also.
